The mill-out extension can be run directly below a seal bore packer when a seal bore extension is run below the packer. For permanent packers, the mill-out extension is required to accommodate the mandrel and catch sleeve of the milling tool. For a retrievable packer, the mill-out extension will accommodate the mandrel and catch sleeve of the retrieving tool.
